Exchange Network Project

by GoMODP last modified 2008-12-17 13:16

In November 2006, the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services applied for an EPA Exchange Network grant on behalf of the Gulf of Maine Ocean Data Partnership (GoMODP). All partners were offered the opportunity to participate in the grant application process. A total of 9 partners officially joined in. In October 2007, the grant application was approved and work is expected to begin in earnest in the summer of 2008. All partners are encouraged to participate in the project as their time and resources permit.

The purpose of this project is to enable exchange of monitoring data between the partners in the GoMODP according to the Environmental Data Standards Council (EDSC) standards and in alignment with the Water Quality Exchange (WQX) schema using Exchange Network protocols. After a schema is developed and agreed upon by the partners, data from the partners would be sent via a node or node client to a host node to be developed by GoMOOS, the host of the GoMODP. GoMOOS would also develop the back end database to accept data from these various sources and incorporate their own data to be used in a custom built web application. This application will be useful in displaying where monitoring has occurred and for what parameters; thereby enabling determination of where monitoring gaps exist and sampling collaboration is possible.
